| Officers
from Blaby local policing unit are making an appeal
for the safe return of sentimental jewellery that was
stolen from a house in Leicester Forest East.
The owner of the jewellery discovered
that they were missing when she returned to her home,
on Kings Drive, from a week holiday on Sunday May 23.
She last saw the jewellery before
she left on Saturday May 15.
Stolen items include:
various gold and platinum rings
with rubies and sapphires
bracelets
necklaces
a Gucci watch
two wedding bands
a bracelet that belonged to her late sister
During the week another occupant of the house had friends
round.
Officers believe that there is
a possibility that someone at the party is aware of
the current whereabouts of the jewellery, perhaps they
saw who took it.
PC David Handisides, the investigating
officer, said:
"The victim is distraught
that the jewellery has been taken, particularly at the
loss of the bracelet that belonged to her sister.
"Her sister died in a plane
crash in 1980 so the bracelet was of great sentimental
value to her.
"We are appealing for anyone
with information about the current whereabouts of the
jewellery to call us as soon as they can.
"A lot of jewellery was
taken from the house and we are anticipating that someone
will try and sell it all on to make money.
"If you work in the pawn
brokers industry we would like you to be aware of the
stolen items and to call us if anyone approaches you
with a lot of gold and platinum jewellery."
Anyone with any information is
asked to contact PC 957 David Handisides on Leicester
(0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a
message for a police officer and when prompted key in
the officer's identification number 0957.
Alternatively call Crimestoppers,
anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
